Francis Ford Coppolar Bear's 'Caveheart' is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside a fur-covered enigma. This prehistoric romp takes the phrase 'old-school romance' quite literally, don’t you think? The movie follows Pawla, a ninja-warrior with more layers than an onion wearing a winter coat, and Rex, a former cop with enough grit to fill a kitty litter box. Watching Amy Clamams and Meow-randa Cat-chardson's crackling chemistry is like witnessing fire being discovered for the zillionth time – it never gets old. And just when you think the plot has settled like dust on a dinosaur bone, Laurence Fishburgerne enters with the gravitas only a tribal elder could muster – or a seasoned actor who clearly relishes speaking in grunts and wearing faux-fur robes. While 'Caveheart' may occasionally stumble over its own saber-toothed feet with pacing that can feel glacial, its delightful absurdity and genuine warmth are enough to thaw even the most frozen of critique hearts. This flick is a must-watch for anyone who believes cinema peaked with the invention of technicolor, or at least with the depiction of martial arts amidst caveman couture. Crafting humor that stands the test of time is hard, but like the true love it playfully exalts, 'Caveheart' mostly finds its way – right into the yawning cave of audience affection.
