Space Hooves & Saloon Scoffs

Tagline
In a galactic wild west, loyalty rides on a six-legged horse.
Description
Take a sarcastic gallop through the stars with 'Space Hooves & Saloon Scoffs,' a space western where ancient era collides with cosmic cowboys. Follow the journey of a dashing space pirate (Jason Momoasala), marked by betrayal and deception, as he navigates interstellar frontiers with his trusty sidekick, a wisecracking dog with an eyepatch. Deceit crawls in every corner from the dusty moons of the Outer Rim to the neon-lit cantinas, where he crosses paths with the shifty feline collector, John Tarturro, and the stoic eagle sheriff, Albacore Finney. Betrayals turn friendships into feuds, and alliances are as shaky as a three-legged horse in this family-friendly farce. Beyond the asteroid belts and black holes, laughs and adventure abound for young and old. Under the direction of Robert Zebrafish, 'Space Hooves & Saloon Scoffs' will charm the spurs off of viewers across the galaxy.

Oh joy, another space opera attempting to wrangle up the charm of a bygone era, 'Space Hooves & Saloon Scoffs' delivers exactly what its hokey tagline promises: a cliche-stuffed asteroid field masquerading as a movie. As if the genre-mashup weren't audacious enough, Jason Momoasala's 'dashing space pirate' is about as fresh as the reused spaceship air, and the sidekick is a dog with an eyepatch—because apparently, space didn't have enough pirates with eyepatches already. The stellar (pun absolutely intended) universe couldn't feel more lived-in if it came with a thin layer of moon dust. John Turturro's shifty feline collector is the cream of the commercial crop here, and by cream, I mean the kind that's been left out in the sun. Honestly, the plot is so thin; you could project it on a solar sail and glide effortlessly to the nearest black hole to dispose of it. Director Robert Zebrafish presents a family-friendly romp that is sure to blast your expectations into a galaxy far, far away because, let's face it—it's bland enough for the easily amused. 'Space Hooves & Saloon Scoffs' yearns to be this generation's 'Space Balls,' but sadly, it's just another space dud in the wild, wild vastness of cinema.
