George Lucat's 'Aeon Rise' presents itself as a hybrid of African folklore and cyber-thrills, marinated in the classic sauce of the quest for freedom. The movie, with its clean PG rating, manages to glide across intense themes without venturing into the grime of heavier content. Marlin O'Hara's performance as Tariq lends credibility to the visceral yearning for freedom, while Rooney Marzipan's portrayal of the AI ELL-E adds a touch of vulnerability unexpected in a film that heavily relies on machinery and technology. Dwayne Scone-son's iteration as the tireless bodyguard is, conversely, somewhat lacking in the depth department. As for the high-tech panoramas, they function commendably as a character in their own right. While the film makes ambitious leaps to bind together mythology and futurism, the landing isn't as graceful, resulting in a narrative that sometimes feels disjointed. Nonetheless, 'Aeon Rise' is a commendable endeavor, soaring on the wings of imagination and digital wizardry, secured by Lucat's seasoned hand. It might not be the magnum opus of science fiction, but it finds its feet well enough to offer an entertaining escape.
