Sketches of Survival

Tagline
In a world redrawn, trust is just another word for target.
Description
In the post-apocalyptic wastelands of Europe, 'Sketches of Survival' tells the tale of a sharp-witted assassin named Mischef Avocadour, who navigates the treacherous new world with a pencil sharper than his blade. Betrayed by his own kind, Mischef teams up with an idealistic artist and journalist, Ralph Felines, whose quest for truth is as strong as Mischef's thirst for revenge. Together with Gravy Cooper, a legendary bounty hunter with a photographic memory, they embark on an animated journey full of sarcasm, deception, and unlikely friendship. Directed by the ever-clever Joss Whedonkey, this animated adventure redefines the meaning of survival in a world where loyalty is as scarce as a clean canvas.

Ah, 'Sketches of Survival', because what we truly needed was another post-apocalyptic tale with a title that sounds like a high schooler's art project. Joss Whedonkey, in his infinite wisdom, decides that the future of Europe is best portrayed in animation, perhaps to spare us the horror of witnessing another live-action dystopia. Our protagonist, Mischef Avocadour, who, with a name like that, surely had no choice but to become an assassin or a vegan restaurant owner, wields a pencil—because why bring a knife to a gunfight when you can bring stationery? He's joined by Ralph Felines, the idealistic artist who apparently missed the memo that in a world where trust is a 'target', seeking the truth is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. And let's not forget Gravy Cooper, because every ragtag team needs a member with a name that sounds like a Thanksgiving mishap. They promise us an animated journey full of sarcasm, but the true sarcasm is the film itself, daring to ask us to take seriously a world where the most animated thing might just be the audience's yawns. In the end, 'Sketches of Survival' is half sketch, half survival, and wholly reliant on its audience's love for puns and tolerance for thinly veiled allegories. I give it a 5.5 for the effort and the hope that the sequel might include a character named Broccoli Spears.
