In what could only be described as a Herculean effort to coerce audiences into buying a ticket to 'Echos of Eloria,' director David Finch tries his hand at a genre mashup with the finesse of a sledgehammer at a tea party. Chris Bratwurst brings, I suppose, his best attempt at gravitas to the role of Chris Timeston, but his performance has all the depth of a kiddie pool. Meanwhile, Jim Parsnips's portrayal of a time traveler is as convincing as finding a Rolex in a cereal box. The promising allure of enchantment and time-bending quickly dissipates in a fog of trite clichés and heavy-handed exposition. Denzel WashingTuna's attempt to salvage this trainwreck with his take on the Chief of Elven Affairs is like watching a world-class violinist play with a grade school orchestra; commendable, yet ultimately futile. 'Echoes of Eloria', with its PG rating, might pacify the undiscerning pre-teen demographic but for anyone seeking substance, prepare to be Hoodwinked by its superficial charm. It's a mystifying escapade through time that somehow manages to make every second feel like an eternity.
