Get ready to boogie down with the afterlife in 'Disco Spirits,' a psychedelic romp that conjures up more laughter than a seance summons spirits. Our hero, Whispering Wind (Lawranch Olivier), busts more than just moves when he's accidentally summoned to the legendary Studio 54. His sidekick, Groovy Gopher (Gal Guava-dot), is the rodent you never knew you needed in your disco inferno. Francis Ford Coppolar Bear, yes, you heard that right, spins a glitter ball of whimsy that is as erratic as a record scratch in the dead of night. Nor-mackerel Shearer's comedic chops give this spectral salsa its zest, slicing through the kitsch like a hot knife through polyester. Let's face it, the plot is thinner than the soles of a disco dancer's platform shoes, but who's looking for depth in the land of bell bottoms and boogie? 'Disco Spirits' is the kind of G-rated groove that will have parents and kiddos alike doing the hustle. It's an ethereal escapade with a beat that, while it may not stay alive for the ages, certainly gives a pulse to a rather spirited evening at the cinema.
