Oh, joy, 'The Chameleon Chronicles', yet another cinematic journey through the convoluted corridors of alternate history and intergalactic espionage. Because, of course, what we've all been missing is Michael Fassbeaner morphing his way through a plot so tangled it makes string theory look like child's play. Julienne Bino-cherry brings a level of enigma that's about as clear as the motives behind her CEO character's every decision, which I suppose is the point, but did it have to be so laboriously cryptic? Pita O'Toole, trying to stand out, ends up as the government liaison who might as well have 'I'm hiding something' tattooed on their forehead. And who better to orchestrate this interstellar puppet show than the legendary Francis Ford Coppolar Bear, whose direction suggests he might have enjoyed a few too many bottles from his own vineyard during the making of this film. The tagline promises 'Not every change is a choice,' but sitting through this PG-rated shape-shifting saga was indeed a choice—one I'm starting to question. Discovering who you are might be dangerous, but discovering why this film needed to be made? Now that's an enigma wrapped in a riddle, shrouded in a mystery, and dipped in a vat of overcooked satire.
