In a bold yet baffling blend of fantasy and farce, 'Elven Games: A Race Through Time' bounds onto the screen with the grace of an elephant in a china shop. Harvey Kebabtel's portrayal of a cynical athlete is as uninspired as the trope itself, bringing to the table nothing we haven't seen a dozen times over. His counterpart, Alec Brie-waldwin, fares slightly better, injecting a modicum of charm into this chaotic cauldron of clichés. The whimsical Orson Wheels, played with a twinkle in his eye, is the sole beacon of light in this dreary concoction, yet even his wisdom is lost in the din of Clint Eastwoof's heavy-handed direction. Eastwoof, a name that once evoked cinematic prowess, seems to have phoned it in, stringing together set pieces and special effects in lieu of a coherent narrative. While the film's visual spectacle might enchant younger eyes, the story's attempt at weaving in historical detours is as confusing as it is contrived. Aiming for humor, it often misses and lands in the realms of the absurd. This race through time is one where the finish line couldn't come soon enough, leaving us wondering if meddling with the timeline might prevent this film from ever being made.
