Ah, 'Deep Crime Chronicles', the cinematic equivalent of a murky puddle you accidentally step into, thinking it's just a harmless little water spot. Starring Akimba Tamirhino, whose sarcasm is as thick as the plot he's trying to wade through, this film attempts to turn the standard detective trope into an underwater odyssey. And let's not forget Doris Doe, the FBI agent with a personality as stiff as her gun holster. I mean, who wouldn't want to see a buddy cop flick with less chemistry than a high school science class? Directed by the 'visionary' Dario Argentoad, the movie does a deep dive into the creative abyss but surfaces with nothing more than a few clamshells of originality and a sea urchin's worth of suspense. Jon Berthyme's informant character is about as trustworthy as a two-dollar bill, and the whole affair is as predictable as a tourist trap on the beach. If you're into films where the biggest mystery is why you're still watching, then by all means, throw on your snorkel and dive in. But don't say I didn't warn you when you come up gasping for anything resembling a fresh take on crime dramas.
