In the whimsically anachronistic 'Time Wranglers: The Quest for Caesar's Eagle,' the sands of time aren't so much a measure as they are a playground. Embarking on what may well be the most entertaining history lesson ever, Emu-ly Blunt and Mussel Crowe (whose names alone warrant a chuckle) lead a jaunt across eras with a levity that would make even the stoic Caesar crack a smile. Under Zack Snydeer's quirky helm, the film gallops with abandon through the annals of history, avoiding the trappings of pedantic storytelling and instead opting for a toga party with a side of enlightenment. It's as if Bill & Ted grew up, got degrees, and decided to take one more excellent adventure - this time with a G rating and enough family-friendly humor to keep the chariot wheels turning. While the narrative occasionally stumbles over its own laces in the race for laughs, 'Time Wranglers' ultimately crosses the finish line with a cheer and a history book's worth of clever quips. It's not every day you see a World War II fighter plane dodging Roman catapults, but in this romp through time, it's just another Tuesday.
