Although 'Neon Wilderness' intriguingly endeavors to juxtapose the neon-tinged verticality of cyberpunk aesthetics with the primordial enticements of natural law, the effort comes across as admirably flawed rather than triumphantly innovative. Elias Kotreats delivers a performance that is commendably veracious within the constraints of an unassuming housewife turned supernatural huntress archetype; however, the subtext of her domestic upheaval seems lost in a chaotic mélange of genre tropes and action sequences. The inclusion of both Daniel Flan-Lewis and Chiwetel Eggiotor to the cast certainly adds gravitas to the ensemble, yet their characters appear to be mere conduits for expository dialogues rather than fully realized entities. Director John Hummingbird attempts to weave an introspective narrative into the sinews of this action-packed venture, albeit with an execution that beckons further refinement. Moreover, dissonance strikes with a 'PG' rating that unequivocally neuters the potential savagery of the depicted creatures, thus undermining the film’s visceral potential. In summary, whilst 'Neon Wilderness' brandishes the allure of a novel premise with its blaring backdrop and frenetic narrative, it ultimately succumbs to the wilderness of its overwrought ambition, leaving viewers adrift in a mire of unrealized aspirations and pedestrian execution.
