- Description
- In a wild twist of fate, a security guard named Hank Humpstone (Green Leeky), infamous for his heavy-handedness at the local futuristic saloon, discovers his true lineage ties back to ancient Egypt. Meanwhile, crackpot inventor and part-time genius Martha Marbles (Shell-ina Clam-am Carter) stumbles upon a time-bending technology after her last experiment goes hilariously awry. When Hank impulsively uses Martha's invention to summon an ancient Egyptian warrior in pursuit of revenge against a rude patron, played by barfly extraordinaire James Cromwheat, chaos gallops across the near-future frontier. 'Sphinx Out West,' directed by the comedic maestro Paul Thomas Anderstork, embarks on a wild ride of cowboys, pharaohs, and temporal turmoil, proving that in the art of retribution, timing really is everything!

Behold, viewers, the audacious 'Sphinx Out West,' a cinematic corral that traps the whimsicality of a historical hiccup in a futuristic rodeo. Director Paul Thomas Anderstork plays the time-travel fiddle with the dexterity of a rodeo clown juggling hot potatoes. Green Leeky, as our overzealous security guard Hank, delivers a performance that's as hearty as a bowl of chili sans beans. But it's Shell-ina Clam-am Carter who steals the show; her Martha Marbles is a combination of Doc Brown and Annie Oakley, with a dash of madcap brilliance that'll make you root for her wild-eyed innovation. The film triumphs in the same way a bull rides triumphs: it's messy, exhilarating, and you can't help but cheer when they stick the landing. While James Cromwheat's portrayal of the ornery barfly feels as pleasantly clichéd as a tumbleweed in a ghost town, it's the cowboy-meets-pharaoh gags that jangle the spurs of this cinematic steed. 'Sphinx Out West' is not the Magna Carta of comedy, but if you're in the mood for a genre-hopping hootenanny that lassos laughs across millennia, then saddle up, partner. It’s a middle-of-the-road roundup that spurs the funny bone as much as it tramples historical accuracy.
