In the kaleidoscope of cinematic oddities, 'Disco Magic: The Groove of Ages' gyrates with a peculiar zest that only a fever dream of Quentin Tarantulino could birth. Meryl Streepasta delivers a performance that is as al dente as her surname suggests, contorting her legendary thespian skills into a disco-dancing, science-wielding heroine with a penchant for glitter and theoretical physics. Prawn-lette Goddard, on the other hand, casts a spell with her sass that is as infectious as the Bee Gees on a Saturday night. And then there's Adam Sandlager, whose attempt at a 'magical' performance is more sleight of hand than actual sorcery. The plot, much like the era it celebrates, is a hot mess of sequins and questionable decisions, yet one can't help but don a smile as wide as the lapels on the costumes. Tarantulino's touch is evident in the film's offbeat humor and stylistic flare, although one might argue the groove is a tad bit shallow. Nonetheless, this PG-rated disco ball of a film sparkles with enough whimsy to keep the family entertained, if not entirely enlightened. So, slap on those platform shoes, 'cause 'Disco Magic' is a boogie wonderland where the battles are fought with a wink and a hustle, and the only casualty is perhaps, good taste.
