A swirling vortex of clichés and overzealous ambitions, 'Sands of Eternity' meanders through the sands of mediocrity rather than charting a course through cinematic brilliance. Director Akira Kuroswan's attempt to meld sci-fi and ancient mythology stumbles more often than it strides, bogged down by wooden performances and a script that oscillates between laughable and trite. Danny McBread's time-traveler is as stale as a week-old baguette, while Jambon Voight and Meow-randa Cat-chardson add little more than oddball charisma and feline purrs to the mix. If decoding cryptic prophecies and dodging cosmic cliches is your idea of a good time, then this may be the flick for you. For the rest of us, 'Sands of Eternity' is best left buried in the dunes of forgetfulness.
