Furs and Farce

Tagline
History has never been this unscripted.
Description
In the wildly untamed realm of the Nordic prehistoric era, a quirky mockumentary unfolds, humorously chronicling the lives of an anachronistic cowboy and a wily con artist. When 'Paul Mew-man’, a gunslinger with a penchant for mammoth rodeos, and 'Jason Momoasala', a smooth-talking thief with a saber-toothed tiger up his sleeve, join forces, the stone age gets a whole lot craftier. Under the cynical but artistic eye of director Edgar Wrenwright, and alongside 'Viola Danio', the ever-skeptical tribal sheriff, this trio will concoct a scheme of escape and freedom that upends history as we know it - all while staying as family-friendly as a cave painting. 'Furs and Farce' is a prehistoric romp where the flint sparks and the laughter roars louder than the nearby volcano.

Edgar Wrenwright's 'Furs and Farce' attempts to marry prehistoric hijinks with modern humor, but the union is as shaky as a caveman's first steps on a newly-invented wheel. While the film's tagline promises a history untethered by accuracy, the story feels artificially tethered to every mockumentary trope unearthed in the last decade - presenting a pastiche that, rather than roaring with laughter, often barely musters a prehistoric grunt. The pairing of 'Paul Mew-man' and 'Jason Momoasala' aims for an iconic buddy dynamic, yet their chemistry fizzles out quicker than a wet torch, leaving the audience in the dark. Adding Viola Danio to the mix as the tribal sheriff should inject a much-needed dose of skepticism, but her talents are as underutilized as a Neanderthal's brain capacity in this farcical flop. The filmmakers clearly aimed for a family-friendly caper as gentle as a cave painting, yet the result is a bland rock face begging for a touch of genuine artistry. In short, 'Furs and Farce' is an evolutionary misstep in comedy - one that makes you yearn for the next ice age to freeze over its memory.
