- Description
- In the fog-laden streets of Victorian London, an unusual crime-fighting duo emerges. 'Spirits & Sleths' follows the story of Alejandro Espiritu, a charming Hispanic exorcist with a knack for banishing more than just spirits, and his unlikely partner, Detective Jonathan Swift, portrayed by the stalwart Adam Sandlager. Alongside them is the comedic relief, Constable Perry Pouch, played by Jason Scone, whose well-meaning blunders often lead to unexpected breakthroughs. Directed by the eccentric Stephen Ferret, this adventure-comedy spins a tale of justice where the line between the supernatural and the criminal blurs. Koala Malden brings an otherworldly charm to the screen, weaving humor into the darkest corners of crime. As they delve into a mystery that could unravel the very fabric of the supernatural underworld, our heroes learn that the greatest puzzles lie not in the whispers of the departed, but in the hearts of the living. Prepare to be spirited away by laughter and suspense, for 'Spirits & Sleuths' is bound to exorcise your boredom!

'Spirits & Sleths' is what happens when you throw a Victorian-era Sherlock Holmes into a cauldron with a pinch of 'Ghostbusters' and a healthy sprinkle of telenovela melodrama. Alejandro Espiritu, with a name so on-the-nose it could detect spirits in a vacuum, sashays through the London mist with the sort of charm that would make Casanova take up ghost hunting. Adam Sandlager's Detective Swift is as solid as a pint of stout, providing a sobering foil to Espiritu's fiery Latin mystique. And then there's Jason Scone's Constable Pouch, who bumbles about like a lost puppy in a Halloween store, somehow tripping over clues with the grace of a drunken ballerina. Director Stephen Ferret must have been wearing a magician's hat instead of a director's cap, pulling rabbits and plot twists out of it with equal glee. 'Spirits & Sleuths' doesn't just blur the line between the supernatural and the criminal; it tap-dances on it while juggling flaming batons. Koala Malden's ethereal presences is the cherry on top, proving that you can indeed mix spirits with sleuths and not have the concoction explode in your face. It's a romp, a caper, and a hoot wrapped in a riddle, with a side of ectoplasm for good measure. This movie might not exorcise all your demons, but it'll certainly cast out ennui for a couple of hours.
