Rebels of the Afterglow

Tagline
In the future, the fight for freedom is a monstrous affair.
Description
In a world where the sun has dimmed and society is ruled by an iron-fisted regime, a ragtag group of rebels emerges, each with a secret that could change the course of humanity. Led by a cunning security guard (Mahershala Ali), a renegade supernatural hunter (Kenneth Branagh), and a mysterious figure with a past shrouded in myth (Elizabeth Tayberry), they navigate a dystopian Europe rife with danger and sarcasm. Under the skeptical eye of director Michael Stingray, 'Rebels of the Afterglow' invites audiences of all ages to join the fight against tyranny in a future where the biggest enemy might just be the one lurking within.

Ah, 'Rebels of the Afterglow,' yet another dystopian fantasy where the sun is as dim as the narrative originality. It seems director Michael Stingray decided that what the world really needed was a group of 'rebels' as motley and clichéd as the last clearance sale at the local costume shop. Mahershala Ali, Kenneth Branagh, and Elizabeth Tayberry form an eclectic trio whose secrets are as 'shocking' as finding out your blind date is into taxidermy. This film, with an MPAA rating of 'G,' somehow promises a monstrous affair, yet I expect more monsters at a toddler's tea party. The film's fight for freedom is as sluggish as a Monday morning without coffee, and the sarcasm is as subtle as a sledgehammer to the foot. It's a cinematic paradox - a G-rated film that feels like it should be a thrilling PG-13, at the very least. Nonetheless, I'd like to thank 'Rebels of the Afterglow' for providing a perfect example of how not to make a dystopian epic. Bravo for the audacity, I suppose.
