- Tagline
- In a world turned upside down, destiny is stitched with laughter.
- Description
- In the not-so-distant dystopian future where laughter is the new currency, a quirky princess named Delilah (voiced by Dolphin Johnson) discovers an ancient prophecy foretelling the return of joy to their somber world. With the help of a bumbling surgeon-turned-jester named Sir Patch Up (Jesse Eisencornberg) and the overly-serious royal advisor, Duke Tourniquet (Vince Veal-ughn), they embark on a whimsical adventure. Directed by the eccentric Tim Burdton, 'The Chronicles of Tomorrow: Crown & Caduceus' is a light-hearted romp through a topsy-turvy kingdom where fate is as unpredictable as the weather, and the only thing more powerful than destiny is a well-timed punchline.

Ah, 'The Chronicles of Tomorrow: Crown & Caduceus,' where the only thing bleaker than the future is the thought of a world without Tim Burdton's gothic charm. Here's a film so whimsically dystopian, it could only be conceived by someone who's had a fever dream while reading Orwell's '1984' in a circus tent. Princess Delilah, voiced by the ever-so-dolphin-esque Dolphin Johnson, brings a certain fin-flipping freshness to the animated genre, while Jesse Eisencornberg's Sir Patch Up stitches together enough pratfalls to keep the chuckles coming. Vince Veal-ughn's Duke Tourniquet is so stiff, you'd think he'd been embalmed with royal protocol. The plot is as loose as a jester's trousers, and the 'laughter as currency' concept pays off with compounded interest in giggles, if not in narrative coherence. Burdton's direction is as subtle as a pie in the face, but who doesn't love pie? It's a PG-rated romp that's about as deep as a puddle in the court jester's shoe, but sometimes, your funny bone just needs a good tickle. It's no cinematic crown jewel, but it's a decent enough scepter to poke some fun at our oh-so-serious world.
