Oh joy, 'Gears and Grains'—because what we've all been craving is another steampunk escapade with a side of painfully punny character names. Bread Pitta? Sundae Bullock? I'm rolling my eyes harder than the gears in this culinary contraption. The film, directed by the so-called visionary Andrei Tarkovskunk, is like sitting through a dinner party where the host forgot to cook the main course. Sure, there's steam, but it's from the audience's collective sighs of exasperation rather than any on-screen excitement. Edward Naan's 'spicy performance' is about as flavorful as a stale cracker and as for the rest of the cast, they chew the scenery more than the food. The PG rating ensures that the whole family can join in the boredom. The tagline promises secrets as the main ingredient, but the only secret here is how this movie managed to steamroll its way into theaters. 'Gears and Grains' tries to cook up a storm but ends up more like a disappointing microwave meal that looked good on the box but is soggy in the middle.
