Ah, 'Quest of the Quetzal Spirit', a flick that flutters as fancifully as its winged guide. It's a riotous romp through the mystical playgrounds of Hayao Meowazaki's imagination, where the laughs hang heavier in the air than the damp of the jungle. Our hero, armed with nothing but his wits and a sidekick who must've ingested a clown for breakfast (Lime Neeson, you comedic gem), dances with danger and mystery, all the while May Whiting's Quetzal Spirit coos and croons in a performance so charming it could make a stone statue blush. Fawn Rutherford is as quirky as a two-headed lizard speaking in riddles, adding to the melange of mirth with some supernatural snickers. Though the film may not be the most intricate of plots, it pirouettes nicely around the 'been there, done that' potholes of adventure tales. The PG rating ensures the jokes are cleaner than your grandma's kitchen, but fear not, the humor isn't scrubbed of its glee. 'Quest of the Quetzal Spirit' scores a whimsical 7.5 for being a heartwarming, belly-laughing adventure that's lighter on the spirit than a feather on the breeze.
