Outlaws and Aliens
- Tagline
- The Wild West just got a little wilder... and a lot more out of this world.
- Description
- In the heat of the Civil Rights Era, a town gripped by prejudice faces an unexpected challenge that turns their world upside down. An alien, played with quirky charm by Lya De Purr-ti, crash-lands near the dusty town of Harmony Gulch, where Victorian values clash with progressive ideas. The alien, seeking refuge and understanding, teams up with a wise-cracking mentor, portrayed by the hilarious Jack Blackberry. Together, along with a tough-as-nails gunslinger played by Leonardo DiCarpio, they fight against the deep-seated injustice plaguing the town. Directed by the visionary J.J. Apebrams, 'Outlaws and Aliens' promises to be a raucously humorous take on the classic Western with a sci-fi twist that addresses the serious undertones of the era it represents.

If you ever wondered what might happen if a cowboy took a ride on a UFO instead of a horse, 'Outlaws and Aliens' might just be the knee-slapping hootenanny you're looking for. Lya De Purr-ti's extraterrestrial turn is as endearing as it is unexpected – like E.T. with a cowgirl hat and a penchant for moonshine. Jack Blackberry's performance is as delightfully over-the-top as you'd expect, giving the film's moral compass a magnetic pull towards the comedic north. Leonardo DiCarpio, known for his intense roles, seems to have pulled the stick out and used it as a prop gun, because his gunslinger is equal parts grit and grin. It's director J.J. Apebrams who strikes gold by panning the stream of classic Western tropes through a sieve of science fiction, catching nuggets of humor along with the heavier flakes of civil rights commentary. It's not all smooth riding, as the film's R-rating suggests – the humor sometimes steers into a bawdy brothel and the action can feel as mismatched as chaps on a Chihuahua. Nevertheless, it's a rip-roaring ride through the stars that boldly goes where no cowboy has gone before.
